Product Description and Bullet Points:

Derby Originals 90” Giant Slow Feed Hanging Hay Net for Horses were designed to better fit your needs than traditional hay nets. Most other hay nets are only 36” or 42” long and can only hold a few flakes of hay. Our 57” hay nets can hold up to 12 flakes or a full bale of hay, while our massive 90” hay net can hold up to 18 flakes or 1.5 bales of hay. This larger capacity makes these large slow feed hay nets great for use with multiple animals, for providing hay for multiple feedings, or for use out in the pasture.

Please be aware that all Derby Originals slow feed hay nets are made by hand, and may have slight variation in overall size and the size of the openings. All measurements and capacities listed are approximate. The amount of hay that our hay nets can hold varies greatly due to the type of hay being fed, the dimensions of the hay bale, and the size of the hay flake.

PREVENTS EXCESS HAY WASTAGE - our slow feed hay nets are designed to help you save money and reduce waste by over 50%. These hay nets prevent hay from being scattered or soiled which is beneficial to your horse's health as well as your wallet.

IMPROVES YOUR HORSE'S DIGESTION - hay nets allow you to slow feed your horse, which mimics natural grazing patterns and is proven to aid the digestive process. Slow feeding is recommended by veterinarians to prevent gastric ulcers and colic.

REDUCES BOREDOM - horses are designed to spend up to 16 hours a day grazing. Slow feeding replicates this natural behavior and keeps your horse occupied longer, which helps to prevent boredom-based bad behaviors such as chewing, cribbing, and pacing.

DURABLE MULTI-PURPOSE DESIGN - our hay nets are made from a mold, mildew, and UV resistant poly rope that is resistant to breaking and tearing, making these nets ideal for daily individual and group feeding, use while trailering, and for soaking hay.

HOLDS APPROX. 1.5 HAY BALES - this slow feed hay net can hold about a bale and a half, or up to 18 flakes of 2-string or square bale of hay. These hay nets are great for group feeding indoors or outdoors.

Not the best...

This is not exactly slow feed - I have others that have real 2 inch holes this opens quite a bit larger and is also made of "shoe lace' type material whereas my others are strong nylon rope. Probably won't last too long.....The horses get the hay out of it much more quickly and more hay on the ground than with my other smaller slow feeder hay nets.

Really giant; well made

I can fit two small two-string bales in this haynet. It’s held up well so far; it’s in a hay hut with one horse eating from it.

Holds a full bale or a husband

This haynet is adequate for a two-string bale of hay. My bales are approximately 80 lb. I recommend putting the net over the bale while the strings are still on, then cutting/removing the twine after it's in the bag.

Very large hay net

My horse loves this hay net. We have gone through several trying to find one he’d use and this was one of the winners. It is very large, which is great! I tied a knot at the bottom so I could put a little less in it. I could definitely fit a 60# square bale in it, maybe even more. Sadly, it now has two very large holes in it and my horse is back to wasting hay all over his stall (he’s on stall rest 😞). I am ordering a different one to replace it, as this only lasted 2 months. I’ve only been using hay nets for 3 months, so idk if my horse is unusually hard on hay nets, or if the net just doesn’t last long. I’d still recommend it to anyone needing an extra large hay net. The one I’m replacing it with is a little smaller.
